I'm such an idiot - it's the same as 0008!.. --Artex ### Common Issue 0010 Author: Artex (aka: IceDragon) Timestamp: 21.Apr.2006 @ 1107 Relation: Bugge Hunters Section: Furcadia Title: The entire map is covered in objects of one kind Description: This help call normally relates to the provided main maps such as Naia and the welcome dream along with a possibility of this in the beekins Aerie. In this case, the user would see the entire map covered in objects like keys, chairs, switches or alike - only one of the mentioned. The problem would occur on fresh installs, people who didn't come for long enough or close to map renewals of the dreams mentioned. Problem: The details of this issue were not properly investigated, but the reason for it is a DS mismatch between the server and the client caused by different map versions and poor checks to determine that. For some reason, the CRC verification on the map was not performed or produced wrong results, leading the client to believe the map is up to date and compatible while it isn't. The end result is server telling the client to execute DS in a wrong way and the client makes wrong changes to the map such as placing an object all over it. Solution: The solution is quite simple - erase the old map cache for that specific dream and let the client download the recent version from the file server. The cache for the main maps is located in the "maps" folder and are named as follows: # Welcome Dream - pmwelcome # Naia - pmnaiasquare # Aerie - pmaerienewer The relevant folder should be deleted or moved away from its parent and the user is to simply re-enter the dream. If unsure, deleting everything from the map folder should be safe. Note that if this ever happens on a main map that is not downloadable (Acropolis, FurN, New Haven, ...) and Furcadia was freshly installed, it is a serious bug that should be reported to the hunters or associates as soon as possible! Should the steps to correct the problem fail, transfer the user to bugge hunters or one of the tech support e-mail addresses: buggehunters@furcadia.com / techsupport@furcadia.com.
